risograph bowerbird

My old bowerbird image revisited! I took a Risograph class this week to see if it would be a good substitute for the dear departed Gocco, which I miss using a lot! It turns out to be almost identical but at a larger scale, similarly delightful and frustrating, and a fairly inaccessible medium 🤑🙅‍♀️ (the machines are essentially obsolete and expensive photocopiers and it’s hard to find ones to use or rent $$$—although once you have access to one, the prints or booklets are pretty cheap to make at volume). I made extras: $12 for the more successful ones and $5 for somewhat misprinted.

per request, i’m selling giclee prints once again! i got voted on to INPRNT (hooray) and have uploaded a bunch of work, both new and extremely ancient. let me know if there’s anything missing you’d like to see there. the paper they use is a heavy archival cotton rag and is nicely priced to boot.

hooray, tumblewords is available in the itunes store! this means i’m a video game illustrator!

tumblewords is a word game for apple-type devices from minicore studios in austin. i illustrated two of the themes, “mushroom forest” and “painted desert.” it’s actually pretty addictive, i spent several hours on it last weekend and managed, with considerable joy, to wrest 150 points out of it by finding “philistine.”

so, do step into my world and find some juicy words. i painted all that woodgrain for you!!

bicycle postcards

these postcards are now in my etsy shop! they’re reproductions of a set of original ink/watercolor bicycle drawings on tea-soaked paper. i picked them because i thought they were particularly lovely specimens of bikehood: the pashley mailstar, my favorite, is used to deliver mail in england; the public d3 is made locally here in san francisco, and i see them often coasting picturesquely on the walkway by ocean beach; my friend esther worked for a while making mission bicycle co. bikes; and, yes, the haley model 1 is a trike and not actually a bicycle — but it is quite adorable!
